When a public post is released, it becomes the featured post on the homepage.

The four basic series of the blog posts are to provide viewers with connections to -
  • The Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport
  • The 1912 Portland-Lewiston Interurban No. 14, Narcissus Project
  • Maine Electric Railways
  • Theodore Roosevelt Maine Heritage Trail
The post you are viewing is a "Page" post. It is not a public post. I put this page post together specifically for MAM members. This post will focus on two series of posts for MAM members:
  • Maine Electric Railways
  • Theodore Roosevelt Maine Heritage Trail
A little background below. You can tap on the highlighted text or links to view sites or posts.

The Seashore Trolley Museum is the key component of the 501 (c) (3) Maine non-profit New England Electric Railway Historical Society. Seashore Trolley Museum is the oldest and largest trolley museum in the world. A small group of electric railway fans saved the first trolley on July 5, 1939. Open trolley Car 31 originally arrived in Saco, Maine, in June 1900 for the Biddeford and Saco Railroad. Currently, the Trolley Museum has a collection of more than 300 transit vehicles on its campus of more than 300 acres in three towns, Kennebunkport, Arundel, and Biddeford. Ten of its Maine transit vehicles are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

I'm the volunteer sponsor for the Narcissus Project. As I did research in the early years, I learned that I am personally, through my family genealogically, directly connected with Winfied Scott Libbey, who worked to have the historic electric interurban, Narcissus, built in 1912. Through my maternal grandmother, I too am part of the Libby clan from Scarborough. 💞

With more than 400 posts available publicly or linked only to pages, I wanted to make it easy for MAM members to view posts with connections to MAM members' communities. The pages that will open are basic and made for MAM. Once the blog is open, you'll have access to all the public posts.

Once you see this ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~, the remaining is an SOP for every post and page released 💫

Here we go...Below are the explanations to access the two series of posts for MAM members:

More than a century old, the stately "Elegant Ride," Narcissus, is a gem.  This shimmering precious stone of Maine transportation history is brilliantly resplendent as it emanates so many elements of history, including time, places, people, and events, that it was coupled to, that when just a smattering of its seemingly innumerable stories are shared, the contents first captivate, fascinate, then generate interest to learn more 🙋. The majestic Narcissus is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Narcissus is featured in the national Gold Award-winning novel, Teddy Roosevelt, Millie, and the Elegant Ride. The "Elegant Ride" is the Narcissus. Theodore Roosevelt was a passenger on the Narcissus on August 18, 1914, between Lewiston and Portland, Maine, while campaigning for the Progressive Party candidates.
