Award-Winning Author Writing Book to Benefit the Narcissus

Jean Flahive

"Thank You, Phil, and know that I am delighted to begin the journey."

Jean's reply to me as we exchanged emails describing our meeting at Seashore Trolley Museum on May 30, 2018.

I am so very happy to announce that award-winning Maine author, Jean Flahive, has agreed to write a young reader historical fiction chapter book for the benefit of the Narcissus Project.

The contractual agreement with Ms. Flahive was arranged through Maine Authors Publishing in Thomaston, Maine. The Middle-Grade novel is estimated to be about 130-150 pages in length and its release is anticipated for 2020, Maine's Bicentennial!

About Maine Author Jean Flahive
After a long career in higher education, Jean Flahive rediscovered her childhood passion for writing and enjoys shedding light on lesser-known pieces of Maine history. Her most recent children's book, The Old Mainer and the Sea is based on a dory fisherman from Chebeague Island. Jean is also the author of two historical fictions, Billy Boy, the Sunday Soldier of the 17th Maine and Railroad to the Moon, Elijah's Story, and co-author of two previous children's picture books, Remember Me, Tomah Joseph's Gift to Franklin Roosevelt, which won a 2009 Moonbeam Gold Award, and The Galloping Horses of Willowbrook, which was a finalist in the 2012 Maine Literary Awards.

Jean and I have met and had a couple of meetings, including once at the Seashore Trolley Museum where she had an opportunity to visit with the Narcissus. As a bonus, she snapped a photo of STONEHAM as the destination for 1918 Eastern Mass. Street Railway No. 4387. The photo was to share with her husband Bill who recalls riding these cars in his youth.

There will be posts from time to time to update readers on the progress of this new book to benefit the Narcissus. In the meantime.....
