As the guest speaker for the Winthrop Historical Society, I created a slideshow for the live broadcast. I converted the slideshow for use in this post. I added some descriptions and links to various posts related to the slides. Once the recording of the live broadcast is posted to the Winthrop Historical Society's YouTube Channel, I will add the link here so viewers can access the presentation. The Electric Railway; Augusta, Winthrop & Gardiner Street Railway, served Winthrop and built the Island Park pleasure resort, known as a Trolley Parl, at Lake Cobbosseecontee. Below are links to four other popular Trolley Parks in Maine.

Amos Fitz Gerald was involved in the establishment of so many electric railways
in Maine. One of the earliest was the Augusta, Hollowell, and Gardiner, and the initial
plans for an extension to Winthrop that would later be extended to connect with Sabattus,
Lewiston, and beyond. Plans changed. You can read more details in the two links below.

The Narcissus is featured in the national Gold Award-winning novel, Teddy Roosevelt, Millie, and the Elegant Ride. The "Elegant Ride" is the Narcissus. Theodore Roosevelt was a passenger on the Narcissus on August 18, 1914, between Lewiston and Portland, Maine, while campaigning for the Progressive Party candidates.
